The assembly and initial testing of the calorimeter at DLR’s Synlight® were performed

Led by DLR, the assembly and pre-testing of the new calorimeter was completed last month.

The calorimeter is an inhouse design by DLR and an essential part of the SUN to LIQUID II project. The incoming, concentrated solar radiation is measured based on a calorimetric measurement principle and is used to determine the solar to fuel efficiency. In Synlight®, DLR successfully tested the calorimeter for the first time at about 10 kW.

The calorimeter prototype was then shipped to the Solar Tower of IMDEA in Spain to be commissioned for final in-field operation.
