“SPOTLIGHT ON PARTNERS” SERIES
DLR – DEUTSCHES ZENTRUM FUR LUFT UND RAUMFARHT
PARTNER DLR
We are glad to present our second research centre partner today: DLR – Deutsches Zentrum für Luft und Raumfahrt
The German Aerospace Centre (DLR) is the national aeronautics and space research centre of Germany. Its extensive research and development work in aeronautics, space, energy, transport and security is integrated into national and international cooperative ventures. It is one of the leading aerospace RTO in the world.
In the project SUN-to-LIQUID II, DLR leads the central task of solar reactor development. This task includes the assessment of reactor and heat recuperation concepts, the design and construction of an integrated reactor-heat recuperator system, and its numerical modelling. Furthermore, DLR installs and tests the reactor-recuperator system in the solar facility at IMDEA Energía, integrates an advanced flux measurement system and contributes to the scale-up study.
DLR assets:
-
Strong expertise in the field of concentrating solar technologies,
-
More than 20 years of experience in developing and testing reactors for solar thermochemistry,
-
Operator of large-scale research infrastructure such as the Solar Towers Jülich or Synlight, the world’s largest artificial sun.
